Abstract
Morgan defines Mindset as a way we see things, the way
we think about the world, adding that mindsets may get in the way of our effort
to make a change in our organization unless is been addressed properly (2009).
This paper outlines my plans for communicating with stakeholders to share their
mindset on every project or change I propose to make. Davis pointed out that
“employees needed clear, simple, succinct information” (2009). I also
give a speech to my team to share their opinion on the same problem that I
intend to correct, likewise, I made my intention known to different
stakeholders in a blueprint format for necessary action.
Communicating With Stakeholders
Outline a
specific plan for communicating with key stakeholders.
Since we know our
stakeholders to be “any person or group with an organization’s goals,
operations, outcomes and impacts” (Flynn, 2009), it is of paramount importance
to involve them in any organizational development project we anchor for smooth
running. To involve these stakeholders there is certain specific plan of
communication to use that will trigger their interest. Harkins pointed out that
“Extraordinary leaders employ distinctive forms of verbal communication”
(2006). My strategic plan for communication will involve; clear vision for the
team set proposal - a blueprint for the action towards the organizational goal,
communication a simple language that all team can comprehend- language that
will ignite committed actions, and make sure I involve the right people for the
task. Harking inferred that, “High-impact leaders are explicit, consistent, concise,
and authentic” (1999).
Create a
brief speech (that would take 1–2 minutes to present) that you would use with
two different stakeholders to initially outline the problem.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
You are welcome to this
meeting; we are here this afternoon to dialogue on the way forward to our
organizational development. Many of you have consulted me with different
opinions but I want us to deliberate on it together to be on the same page. The
idea is whether we should collaborate with a foreign company or not, we want to
discuss the benefits and the disadvantages. If we eventually agree to
collaborate, with who and what are the steps to follow in achieving this and at
the end, we will also delegate some individual to carry out the task towards
achieving our conclusion. I want everybody to contribute, this is not managers
forum or senior staff committee, everyone has an equal right to share their
opinion and at the same time, we must respect individual personality. This is
not a forum to show your hatred to any individual but where to share your
experience with others on our topic for discussion.
Time management, I want
us to manage our time judiciously because we all have some other things to do,
go straight to your point and give us any example and suggestion so that we can
all leave this place on time with a reasonable outcome to work with. Those
that have had prior knowledge of partnering should share their experience and
tell us how to go about it. We need suggestions of potential companies home and
abroad that we could partner with if agree to partner. All suggestion or
contributions are welcome. Like I said earlier, everyone here must share their
opinion.
Thanks.
Select
individuals who have different roles in the process and describe how you would
alter how you framed the problem for each. Set the context for each individual
to respond positively to a request for help in seeking solutions.
Chairman sir, I know our
company is design to make profit and I know we can only achieve this when we
have a continuous project at hand. For the past one year now we have not won
any contract but the story is not the same with our contemporaries. Even though
we both face the same challenge in this down period yet they are occupied with
projects from their partners side. They have changed all their out-dated software
and expand in preparation to get bigger projects without spending much because
they jointly finance it. Instead of lay off they maintain their professional
with their partner’s project abroad. I believe if we partner as well, we will
retain our professional engineers and win a big contract.
Lead Engineer sir, I
think it is high time we collaborate with a foreign company that does the same
job with us. The benefits are numerous, it will raise our standard to the
international contractor. Our client will raise our profile from small project
contractor of refurbishing to large green field projects. Partnering will
enhance and prepare us for the big projects, manpower across the globe and
equip us for the latest technology. All the software we cannot afford will be
co-finance or share with our partner. This will help us to win more contracts
and retain our professionals.
H.R ma, recently we lose
four of our professional engineers to various companies that we do the same job
due to the lack of continuous job. For the past one year, we could not win any
contract and most of these engineers will lose their professional license if
they continue to stay idle. If we don’t rescue the situation we will lose more
and it will cost the company more to recruit more professional when they
eventually win a contract. I have a suggestion, we will win more contract if we
can collaborate with a foreign company. We have an advantage because they need
us to get local project, as we need them to be recognized internationally as well.
They have better and latest equipment’s and software, those that we cannot
afford and limit our chances of getting bigger projects. If we collaborate,
instead of spending millions on software, they have those we can share and at
the same time we can join hand in financing those we need newly. At the same
time, we can share manpower, office, and work on each other’s projects to keep
everybody busy with better turn-over.
